| ‘Suno Eh Kahani’ - Dogri play staged in Sunday Theatre | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 8- Balwant Thakur’s Dogri play ‘Suno Eh Kahani’ was staged here today in Natrang’s weekly series ‘Sunday Theatre’. This play is considered to be one of the best plays produced by Natrang in last twenty-five years and most noteworthy feature of the play is that it always creates magical electrifying effect on the audience. Another important feature of today’s performance was that it was performed entirely by a new team of actors who demonstrated their confidence through excellent acting. Today being the International Women’s Day had a direct relation with the theme and message of Natrang’s Suno Eh Kahani. "GUDDI' central character of Suno Eh Kahani is representative of a major section of rural lower middle class adolescent young girls, who are forced into matrimony at a very tender age. Guddi is fully aware of the strains of early marriage, as it has taken its toll in untimely death of her mother. She wants to grow and get educated before she takes up the responsibility of married life. Her dreams are shattered, a 'suitable' groom is found and marriage date is fixed. While the marriage ceremonies are being performed, help comes in the form of intervention by legal authorities and decision of marriage is deferred for appropriate time. The play highlights the plight of young girls who are sacrificed at the altar of rotten, redundant customs of illiterate and ignorant sections of our society. Surbhi Sharma a new face of Natrang in her maiden lead performance did full justice with the role and was able to evoke some emotional pathos. The lead narrators were played by Mohit Sharma and Pankush Verma who through their excellent in singing and dance maintained their supremacy in the performance and performed extremely well. Dimple Sharma, Gaurav Jamwal and Rohit Verma played the roles of Father, Police Officer and the Groom with full maturity. Others who performed in the chorus included Rahul Singh, Mohammed Yaseen, Anita Dhar, Arvind Singh, and Durga Deep Singh. The lights were designed by Gaurav Jamwal. Tajasvi Sharma did the presentations and the show was coordinated by Divya Kohli.
