| Army holds medical camps | | | Leh, September 21, Besides safeguarding the borders of the country so that we can live in peace, the Indian Army also serves people of the country in many other ways including by providing medical and CSD facilities also.
As a part of Bharat Nirman Campaign, which was inaugurated by Sh. Tsering Dorje, Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council(LAHDC), here in Polo Ground today, the Indian Army organized General OPD and Dental Care camps, where check-up and medicines were provided to the general public free of cost. CSD facilities for the public were also provided by them.
In the general OPD camp, more than 220 patients of different ailments were medically checked up and provided medicines free of cost on the spot. Major (Dr.) Deepti, who was heading the camp, said that people with throat infections, body pain, and other ailments were checked up a team of Army Doctors .
In the dental care camp, which was set up by the 14 Corps Dental Unit under the guidance of Capt. (Dr.) Ashish Kalra, Dental Surgeon, over fifty people with different dental ailments were checked and some of them were referred to the Corps Unit also for specialized treatment and surgery.
At the CSD canteen camp people were seen purchasing house hold items at CSD rates. Some of the ladies who were asked about the facility they were getting from the army, said that it had provided us an opportunity to save some money as there was a big difference between market rates and CSD prices. They were also appreciative about the Bharat Nirman Campaign launched by Press Information Bureau, Government of India, Jammu in Leh saying that it had provided them with an opportunity to make themselves aware about the different schemes of the Central Government meant for the benefit of the general public.
