| Hoetliers doubt cable car project | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Mar 9- Welcoming the announcement of laying cable car between Mubarak Mandi heritage centre to Bagh-e- Bahu, all Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has expressed apprehension about the sincerity and seriousness of the government in implementing this ambitious project. A meeting of the hotelier association held here today under the Chairmanship of its president Inderjeet Khajuria rued that for last two decades the government has been contemplating of laying this cable car project but regretted that practically nothing has happened on the ground . The association hoped that the assurance given in this regard by the Minister for Tourism will be implemented and the project will be taken in hand soon and commissioned at the earliest. AJHLA also rued slow pace of work on Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage centre. There have been meetings after meetings by the concerned authorities and every time people are given to understand that Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Complex will become a reality soon, but the things stand as they are. Although the Union Ministry of Tourism and Culture has already sanctioned adequate funds for the purpose, but the state government authorities are not realizing urgency and there is nothing in sight to show that any concrete measures are being taken in this regard. Some government offices have still not been shifted from the premises, the same are presently serving as parking lot for the government and private vehicles of the people living in the vicinity. The stamp vendors and some notaries are still occupying the space. The association urged the heritage society and other concerned authorities to take up the work on war footing and throw Jammu Mubarak Mandi Complex open for the visitors before Jammu festival this year being held on Baisakhi, the Association said.
