| BJP Walks out on e-metering in old city | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 9: The opposition members of the BJP today staged walkout alleging discrimination with the people of Jammu over replacement of damaged electronic meters during question hour session in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly here. BJP MLA Ashok Khajuria raised a question whether the government would replace the damaged and install new electronic meters on its own cost Miinister for Tourism and Culture Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora today said in the Legislative Assembly that the process of installation of electronic meters in old Jammu city will be completed by March end this year. The Minister was replying to a question, raised by Mr. Ashok Khajuria. Jora made it clear that meters damaged during agitation in Jammu city will not be compensated by the Government, adding that meters would be installed only in the uncovered areas of the city on the instructions of the Government. However, Khajuria, on hearing the reply, alleged discrimination with the people of Jammu and said, ''This is a completely discriminatory attitude of the government as nothing is being charged for the damaged meters in Kashmir.'' Raising anti-government slogans and terming it as ‘anti-Jammu sarkar’, the BJP members assembled in the well of the House and created uproar followed by a walkout of the House.
