Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 17: In a gathering marked by enthusiasm and intellectual fervor, members of the Society of Automotive Engineers, Collegiate Club, SMVDU convened the meeting in the central workshop of the School of Mechanical Engineering to take review of the preparations for the upcoming SAE BAJA 2025 competition. Pertinently SMVDU has previously participated in such events like SAE BAJA 2014, ECO KART 2017 and SAE BAJA 2018 wherein the participating teams have to design and fabricate a vehicle in order to participate in a national competition. Apart from the innovation, uniqueness of the design, the robustness, manoeuvrability and the ruggedness of the design is tested at designated tracks in a national level competition. The meeting was conducted by the Team Leaders, Divyansh Kale (Mechanical Engineering Student at SMVDU) and Amod Vaibhav (Electrical Engineering Student at SMVDU). The session commenced with an introduction to the exploration of the features encapsulated within the previously fabricated vehicle with an aim to get insights into the realms of design, engineering, manufacturing and material aspects of the previous design. Discussions related to the technical intricacies and scope for future enhancement was also held. Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq (Faculty Coordinator, SAE Collegiate Club, SMVDU) briefed the participants about the various aspects of new product development and highlighted the challenges associated. Dr. Ankush Raina (President, BPA) also briefed the team and motivated them to work with enthusiasm to achieve success in the national level competition to be held very soon. Prof. Pragati Kumar (Vice Chancellor, SMVDU) has conveyed his best wishes to the SAE BAJA team.
