Training on Paddy crop management held by KVK Kishtwar under FLDs

Jammu, May 17: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today organized one day training programme on scientific cultivation of Paddy at Pehalkala Sigdi which was attended by 24 farmers of the village. The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr Amrish Vaid, Director Extension SKUAST Jammu which aimed at demonstrating the yield potential of crop variety, protection and management practices in paddy crop on the farmers’ fields under the supervision of scientists.
Dr Narinder Paul incharge KVK Kishtwar conducted the programme where in the participants were educated about the SKUAST Jammu package of practices for hilly areas. He said seed treatment, weed management insect pest and disease management needs to done to prevent losses to the crop and get high yield. The farmers were also sensitized about common paddy diseases and their management.
During the programme critical production inputs were also distributed among farmers selected under Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) under paddy crop. Om Prakash, Dewan Chand, Suresh Kumar, Krishan Lal, Nath Ram, Ram Krishan and others attended the programme. Om Parkash lauded the efforts of KVK in conducting the programme in far-flung village of the district.
