Plantation drive launched at DDRC Channi

JAMMU, May 18: In a proactive initiative towards environmental conservation, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Jammu District, in collaboration with Urban Forest Division Jammu, launched a plantation drive at the premises of Drug De-addiction & Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) Channi, Jammu.
The plantation drive was inaugurated by SP Headquarters Jammu, Irshad Hussain Rather-JKPS, along with Dr. Shehnaz, Incharge of DDRC, and Shri Ashwani Kumar Mittal, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Urban Forestry Division. Several officers and officials from both the Police and Forestry departments actively participated in the event.
The primary objective of the initiative is to enhance green cover within institutional premises, promoting sustainable ecological development. Emphasizing the importance of ecological preservation, the initiative aims to stabilize the ecosystem and preserve ecological diversity. Planting trees is seen as a vital step in offsetting emissions and maintaining ecological balance.
During the event, the officers highlighted the significance of the drive, emphasizing the responsibility of organizations like the Police to contribute towards environmental conservation. They stressed the importance of gifting future generations with a green and clean environment.
Over a hundred saplings of various species were planted during the drive, including:
Chinar, Gulmohar, Amaltash, Bottlebrush, Hibiscus and Mango.
The plantation drive is set to continue in the coming days as part of ongoing efforts to expand greenery within the DDRC Channi premises.
This initiative reflects the commitment of Jammu & Kashmir Police and the Urban Forest Division to environmental sustainability and community welfare, setting an example of responsible citizenship and ecological stewardship.
