| Regulations for private schools fees soon: Minister | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, MARCH 09– With a view to regulate the fee apparatus, the Government has directed the private school establishments to charge the academic fees from the students only once in a year and made it mandatory to notify the same well before the commencement of the academic session. This was disclosed at a high level officers meeting of Education Department chaired by Minister for School Education and Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed here today. The Minister made it clear that no revision of fees shall be effected unless the same is approved by a committee constituted for the purpose. He also said that Government has decided to introduce history and culture of Jammu and Kashmir as a subject in the educational curriculum right from class IV to make the students aware about the rich cultural ethos of the state. Peerzada said that primary education was the edifice on which the education of an individual stands and added that enough measures would be taken to strengthen the elementary education apparatus. It was also decided in the meeting that Board of School Education (BOSE) would make it a point to issue an academic calendar containing information regarding all examinations to be conducted in the following year at the beginning of the academic session. The calendar would also include other academic events to be held by the department during the year. Among others who attended the meeting were Secretary Education, Mr. G. A. Peer, Directors School Education of Jammu and Kashmir, Chairman BOSE, Special Secretary Education, Secretary BOSE and other officers. Later, the Minister accompanied by Secretary Education inspected various schools including Government Higher Secondary Schools at Gandhinagar and Shastrinagar where students of class 12th were taking examinations. He expressed satisfaction over the arrangements including supervision and facilities to the examinees.
