Early Times Report

Jammu, May 19: Dr. M.A. Alim, Vice Chairman of the CII J&K Council along with other CII Members, met with Sh. Anil Khadelwal, the Member of the Railway Board, in New Delhi. The key discussions and outcomes of the meeting are as follows:
During the meeting, Dr. Alim raised the critical issue of integrating Jammu & Kashmir into the national Gati Shakti program. Sh. Khadelwal, the Railway Board Member, assured that the region would be fully covered under the new Gati Shakti schemes. These schemes aim to strengthen multimodal connectivity and logistics across the country.
Additionally, the development of cargo terminals to serve the industrial estates of both Jammu and Kashmir was discussed. Sh. Khadelwal committed to providing further details on how these important infrastructure projects would be implemented in the near future.
Dr. Alim also highlighted the long-standing demand to upgrade the Jammu railway station. Sh. Khadelwal provided a firm assurance that the railway station redevelopment is being prioritized and will be completed within a 2-year timeframe. The new Jammu station will be modern, renovated, and equipped to handle the increasing passenger and freight traffic in the region.
Overall, the meeting was as fruitful as it resulted in concrete commitments from the Railway Board to address key infrastructure gaps in Jammu & Kashmir. The CII J&K Council is hopeful that these discussions will soon translate into tangible on-ground work and improvements for the region's connectivity and economic development.
