JAMMU, March 09 – Minister for Health, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today informed the that the Lower House Government is endeavoring to provide better health care facilities to the people of Ramnagar constituency. He said that 55 allopathic health institutions comprising one CHC (Sub-District Hospital), 10 Primary Health Centres, 1 Allopathic Dispensary, 16 ISM Dispensaries, 35 Sub Centres and 8 Medical Aid Centres are providing medicare facilities to the people of the constituency. During the current fiscal, 1.27 lakh OPD and IPD patients have been treated and 1075 surgeries conducted in the health institutions of Ram Nagar constituency. While giving reply to the Calling Attention Notice moved by Mr. Harshdev Singh, regarding inadequate infrastructure and staff in the constituency, the Minister said that out of 175 posts of Doctors, Paramedical and other staff, 157 are filled. He said that under ISM, 33 posts of doctors have been filled, against the total strength of 35 posts. Sharma said that one X-Ray plant, USG, Dental Unit and Operation Theatre and two Ambulances are available in the CHC, Ram Nagar, while as PHC, Majalta is equipped with an X-Ray plant, dental unit and one Operation Theatre and PHC Basantgarh is already having a dental unit and other essential equipments. He said that PHCs at Mansar, Bharnara and Thial are also equipped with the required facilities. However, he said that necessary provision have been incorporated in the Health Infrastructure Development Plan of the constituency to augment the much needed equipments in the Health Institutions there. The Minister said that to overcome the shortage of Gynecology, Pediatrics and Anesthesia specialists in Ram Nagar constituency, engagement of these specialists under NRHM has been proposed on a monthly remuneration of Rs 40,000 on contractual basis. The department has also proposed enhancement of remuneration of contractual doctors engaged under NRHM so as to facilitate filling up of the positions that are available in Ram Nagar Constituency and other far-flung areas of the State, the Minister added and said that steps have been taken to improve the monitoring and supervision of health institutions.
