Early Times Report
REASI, May 21: The District Police Headquarters is pleased to announce a significant breakthrough in our ongoing fight against illegal drug trafficking. On 20.05.2024, police officers successfully recovered a substantial quantity of Alprazolam tablets and arrested a female suspect in connection with the illegal possession and distribution of controlled substances.
Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a targeted operation at Railway Road Katra, leading to the seizure of 3020 Alprazolam tablets, a medication often abused for its sedative effects. The suspect, identified as Laxmi Devi W/O Vishal Kumar R/O Yogashram Katra, was taken into custody and is currently being held pending further investigation.
In this regard, case FIR No. 142/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Katra.
"Today's successful operation is a testament to our commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking within our community," stated Ms Mohita Sharma-IPS. "The recovery of these tablets and the arrest of the suspect are significant steps in our ongoing efforts to protect public health and safety."
Alprazolam, commonly known by its brand name Xanax, is a prescription medication used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. However, its misuse and illegal distribution pose serious risks to public health. The police are dedicated to cracking down on the illegal drug trade and preventing such substances from reaching the streets.
The suspect will face charges related to the possession and intent to distribute controlled substances. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover any further links to broader drug trafficking networks. The District Police Headquarters Reasi urges the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities on 9070907017. Public cooperation is vital in our efforts to combat drug-related crimes and ensure a safe environment for all residents.
