5/22/2024 10:26:24 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 22: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President, JKNC, has strongly criticized the Modi government for its failure to fulfill the promises made to Kashmiri Pandit migrants during the previous polls regarding their rehabilitation PM Package of Jobs for unemployed youths, increase in monthly cash etc.
Addressing a meeting of Kashmiri migrants at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta accused the BJP Govt at the Centre of exploiting the Kashmiri migrants' suffering for political gains without genuinely addressing their grievances or ensuring their rightful return and resettlement in their homeland. He emphasized that the Kashmiri migrants issue is not merely a matter of statistics or political rhetoric but a humanitarian crisis that demands urgent attention and meaningful solutions. He accused the BJP of exploiting the Kashmiri migrants' suffering for political gains without genuinely addressing their grievances or ensuring their rightful return and resettlement in their homeland.
Earlier at the outset of meeting Called for the Parliamentary elections of Mian Altaf Ahmed Candidate Anantnag- Rajouri Parliamentary Seat, Bushan Lal Bhat, Chairman of J&K NC Minority Cell and Ex MLC and Jatin Bhat apprised the senior functionaries of Party about the hardships being faced by the Kashmiri migrant community residing in Jagti, Purkhoo, Muthi, Buta Nagar, Nagrota, Purkhoo Camps, and non-camps migrants settled in Jammu, Kathua, and Udhampur districts. They said that no cash relief was enhanced for the last so many years and the migrant Kashmiri youth feeling alienated under the present dispensation.
Expressing concern over the plights of Kashmiri migrants, Rattan Lal Gupta asserted that the BJP, despite getting huge mandate from migrant community during 2014 and 2019 polls, has miserably failed to stand on their expectations. He termed it unfortunate that despite increased cost of living amid sky rocketing prices and peak inflation the cash assistance being paid to the Kashmiri Migrants has not been enhanced for the past so many years. He said that the Kashmiri migrants are unable to meet their ends with the meager cash assistance and these people are out on roads protesting for relief enhancement and other issues.
He criticized the BJP's divisive rhetoric and anti people policies, which, he argued, have only exacerbated tensions and alienated communities in the region. He called for a more inclusive and compassionate approach to resolving the Kashmiri migrants' plight, one that prioritizes human dignity, justice, and reconciliation if the India alliance voted in power.
Rattan Lal Gupta appealed to the migrant community to strengthen the hands of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah by supporting NC candidate Mian Altaf Ahmed from Anantnag - Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency in the ensuing Lok Sabha polling on May 25, 2024. He emphasized that there is no better option for Kashmiri Pandit migrants than to wholeheartedly support and vote for National Conference candidates in the upcoming polling in Anantnag- Rajouri Parliamentary constituency.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary Jammu mentioned that during the regime of UPA at Centre and Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, several mini-townships for Kashmiri migrant community were constructed and established at Jagti and other areas adjoining the Jammu city. He also enumerated the measures taken by the National Conference during its various spells of governance for addressing the concerns and issues of the displaced community.
Pardeep Bali, Ayub Malik Provincial Secretaries Jammu Province and Ankush Abrol Joint Secretary Jammu Province reiterated that the National Conference has always stand for the cause of Kashmiri migrants and the return of KPs back to Kashmir always high on Party's agenda. They appealed to the migrant community to strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah by supporting the National Conference candidate Mian Altaf Ahmed in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls on May 25.
