Congress failed to deliver at its promises: Mankotia

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 10- Young Panthers, president and MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia today lashed out at Congress-National Conference coalition government for its populist slogans of providing ‘one job to each family in the state and constitution of Delimitation Commission’ to end regional discrimination.
Addressing media persons here today, Mankotia said that Cong-NC coalition government has no concrete employment policy to address the growing problem of unemployment in the state. He said that while the coalition partners promised ‘one job to one family’ during its election campaign the government denied having made any such commitment on the floor of the assembly. He said that Panthers Party raised the issue in the assembly vociferously but the government did not have a concrete and convincing answer.
Charging Congress of being master at deceit, Young Panthers president said that ex-chief minister and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad is on record of having committed to the people of the state especially Jammu region of setting up a Delimitation Commission immediately after coming to power, but nothing was proposed by the Congress legislators or the government on the floor of assembly.
“Not only this when Panthers Party brought a private members’ bill to this effect, the Congress legislators were more than eager to defeat the bill,” said Mankotia adding, that after defeating the bill on the floor of the assembly now some of the Congress leaders are now claiming their commitment to the Delimitation issue.
He said that coalition government would fall under its own weight as they have no coordination while government brings some bill the Congress legislators oppose it, which clearly demonstrate their non-cooperation on issues of vital public importance.
Young Panthers president hinted at contesting coming Lok Sabha elections for six seats in Jammu and Kashmir in alliance with PDP, BJP and other like minded parties. "We hope the Opposition will fight the Lok Sabha elections in the state unitedly like the recent polls to the Legislative Council," he said adding, “the talks are on with like minded parties on five seats as we have already decided to field NPP supremo Bhim Singh for Udhampur-Doda seat.”
Mankotia said that to expose the anti-people and anti-youth policies of the coalition government, Young Panthers has decided to hold a one day convention at Dogra Brahman Sabha, Parade Ground on March 15. The party would decide future course of action during the conference, he informed.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Raghubir Singh, Naresh Chib, Shankar Singh Chib, Rakesh Gupta, Vinod Singh and Anil Singh.
