Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 24: Government Degree College (GDC) Purmandal, affiliated with the University of Jammu, is set to launch a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree programme starting from the academic session 2024-25. This significant development aims to provide new opportunities for students aspiring to build careers in commerce-related fields.
Recognizing the importance of this initiative, the University of Jammu conducted a comprehensive inspection of GDC Purmandal's facilities and academic standards. The inspection, carried out by a team led by Director CDC Prof. Rajiv Rattan on May 22, 2024, evaluated various aspects of the college, including its infrastructure, faculty strength, and administrative capabilities.
During the visit, the university team engaged in detailed discussions with Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar, Principal of GDC Purmandal, Dr. Jatinder Kour from the Department of Commerce, and other faculty members. These interactions focused on ensuring the college's preparedness to offer the new commerce stream.
Following the thorough assessment, the university officials granted their consent for the commencement of the B.Com programme. This approval marks a milestone for GDC Purmandal, as it expands its academic offerings and opens up new educational pathways for students.
Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar expressed her gratitude to the University of Jammu for their support and emphasized the college's commitment to providing high-quality education in commerce. She highlighted that the introduction of the B.Com programme aligns with the college's vision to enhance academic diversity and cater to the evolving educational needs of the student community.
With the addition of the B.Com degree, GDC Purmandal aims to equip students with essential knowledge and skills in commerce, preparing them for various professional avenues in the business and finance sectors. The programme is expected to attract a significant number of students and contribute to the overall academic growth of the institution.
