7th Joginder Kour Memorial Badminton Tournament concludes

JAMMU, May 25: With the sole motive to sensitize the society especially the youth regarding tremendous damage caused through drug menace engulfing the youth of nation-7th Joginder Kour Badminton Tournament organized at Sports Complex SKUAST-Jammu , Chatha which was inaugurated by Dr. Vinod Kumar (IPS) SSP- Jammu in presence of dignitaries as Dr. Gurdev Chand HoD, Som Nath Gupta Sr. International player, Dr. Ashwani Jojra , founder SAHYOG INDIA, President Special Olympics Bharat, President Joginder Kour Memorial Trust S. Amarjeet Singh and General Secretary Dr. Sukhbir Singh. It is organized under the aegis of Joginder Kour Memorial Trust . More than 100 players participated under six categories i.e. under 14 Single-Double, under-19, under Senior Men/Women, Mix Doubles, Veteran 40plus/Veteran 50 plus. Participants of age ranging from 08 to 74 years participated along with technocrats and professors , National, and State champions under all categories took part. This tournament is dedicated every year with specific theme and this years the theme is- "A Drive Against Drug Menace".
In valedictory / concluding ceremony Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. B.N. Tripathi graced as Chief Guest and presented awards/ trophies to winners and runners as well as participants. Arun Manhas JKAS, Director Industries and Commence, Jammu. Guest of honor Damanpreet Kour, KAS, Dr Vijay Saigal Prof. and President Jammu University Teachers Association , Dysp S. Deshbir Singh, Dr. Subash Sharma, Prof. Arvinder Singh, Dr. Veena Technical Officer Agro meteorology, Dr Gurdev Chand, Dr. Billoria, Sarpanch Avtar Singh.
In his presidential address, Honorable VC SKUAST-Jammu defined this initiative of Trust a big eye opener effort which is need of hour to channelize the youth energy through the medium of sports Dr. Arun Manhas also urged to continue such reformation events as youth is the biggest force of any nation to bring laurels to the society. Dr. Ashwani Jojra a renowned social activist and founder member of Joginder Kour Memorial Trust highlighted the future strategies of trust S. Amarjit Singh President of the trust presented welcome and keynote address whereas S. Sukhbir Singh General Secretary of trust presented vote of thanks.
