GDC Bhaderwah hosts World Anti-Tobacco Day awareness program

BHADERWAH, May 25: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, Department of Physical Education & Sports of GDC Bhaderwah in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bhaderwah organized a dynamic awareness program on "World Anti-Tobacco Day" on May 25, 2024 under the able guidance of worthy Principal, Dr. Attar Singh and convenorship of Prof. Mohd Yaseen Sirwal.
Prof. Rakesh Sharma, i/c Principal of college expressed his gratitude to all participants and highlighted the commitment of college to promote health and well-being. He urged everyone to join the fight against tobacco addiction and create a tobacco-free environment. The campaign aimed to educate the public about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and to promote healthy living alternatives.
The day's program commenced with an informative lectures led by DLSA representatives namely, Advocate Isha Hiteshi and Mr. Himanshu Kumar. The Programme shed light on the legal implications of tobacco use, its detrimental impact on health, and the importance of seeking support for those struggling to quit. Prof. Zain-Ul-Abdeen Banday,HOD Political science fostered a vibrant atmosphere that encouraged active participation from the students and other participants. Various students participated in the event.
The NSS Unit, along with its partners, raised the awareness about the dangers of tobacco use and promoting a tobacco-free lifestyle. Faculty members who graced the occasion include Prof. Mudasir Majeed, Dr. Bharat Singh, Dr. Madhu Ram, Angrez Singh (PTI), Prof. Renuka Goria, Dr. Rajni Kumari, Dr. Deepika, Prof. Younis Rasheed, and Prof. Amit Kumar.The whole proceedings of event were carried out by Prof. Mohd Yaseen Sirwal,NSS PO of college. Finally Programme culminated with vote of thanks by Prof. Zain-Ul-Abdeen Banday who thanked Principal GDC Bhaderwah for his support, NSS Unit, Department of Physical Education & Sports, members of DLSA Bhaderwah, staff members and students for their active participation in making the event a successful one.
