KVK, empowering rural youths under ARYA project

REASI, May 25: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) is promoting the commercial floriculture, organic farming, poultry farming and value addition of fruits among the rural youths of hilly distt. Reasi of J&K under Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture project (ARYA) undergoing in the district. KVK, Reasi is working under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.B.N.Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof.Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. Sr. Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal said that the objective of ARYA project is to attract and empower the rural youths to take agriculture and allied sector enterprises for sustainable income and gainful employment. He further said that there is an increase in the migration of rural youths to urban areas in search of employment and there is need to make agriculture more profitable so that the rural youths can be attracted towards this occupation. He said that KVK is guiding the rural youths on scientific commercial floriculture, organic farming, poultry farming and value addition of fruits can play an important role in generating more income and employment among the rural youths of the district. He emphasised on the agri-entrepreneurship development among the rural youths for doubling the farmers' income. He said that Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture (ARYA) project has been initiated in Reasi distt. by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in Reasi distt. of J&K through which the KVK is promoting the agri-entrepreneurship development among the rural youths so that can be made self-reliant and empowered. He expressed that Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi scientists are guiding and encouraging the rural youths of Reasi distt. for the commercial floriculture, organic farming, poultry farming and value addition of fruits. KVK, Reasi scientists are guiding the rural youths on dual purpose varieties of poultry, marigold and vegetables. He expressed that diseases management practices in crops are also suggested by the KVK, Reasi scientists. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi is endouvering to enhance the income of the rural youths of Reasi district so as to generate more income and employment in rural areas of the distt. He expressed hope that this will also help to prevent the rural migration. By observing the successful results of successful rural youths many new rural youths are coming forward for agri-entrepreneurship.
