| CM, Speaker, Minister greets people on Holi | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, MARCH 10– Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has felicitated the people on Holi and hoped that the great festival of colours will usher in a new era of peace and amity in the State. In his message of greetings, the Chief Minister said festivals are meant to be celebrated together so that a symbiotic relationship is developed between various sections of the society. He said the festival of Holi breathes in a new life into our composite culture which is an embodiment of love and affection. The Chief Minister hoped that the festival will be celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervour, adding that it refreshes our memory about victory of good over evil. Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone has extended Holi greetings to the people of the State, praying that the great festival takes us on the path of progress and development. In his message, the Speaker said the festival of colours is an epitome of strong cultural bonds that exist within us, adding that even after centuries, the spirit of celebrating the occasion with fervour has remained the same. Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and the Ministers, Abdul Rahim Rather, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Surjit Singh Slathia and Sham Lal Sharma have greeted people on the occasion of Holi, praying the great festival puts Jammu and Kashmir firmly on the path of development and peace. In their greetings’ message, the Ministers said the festival of colours signifies the oneness of the people of the State, adding the zeal even after so many centuries has not gone down. They asked the people to maintain the spirit as the same has given us the unique distinction of being called the Land of Festivals. They also prayed that the festival inculcates a new lease of life in our quest to take J&K state to dizzier heights. He prayed the festival brings in a new era of peace and development in the State. Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora has greeted people on Holi and said the auspicious occasion allows us an opportunity to celebrate the festival together with love and amity. In his message, Jora said the festival of colours is a true reflection of our cultural richness which needs to be preserved at every cost. The Minister said it is festivals like Holi that define our strong values because of which India is held in high esteem everywhere. He prayed that the festival brings in a new aeon of peace, prosperity and development in the State.
