Monthly Sports Day celebrated

RS PURA, May 26: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) RS Pura Boys celebrated its Monthly Sports Day today with immense enthusiasm and vibrant participation from the students. The event saw a large turnout from the local community, including parents and well-wishers, who gathered to enjoy a day filled with competitive spirit and sportsmanship. Koshal Kumar Sharma, Senior Lecturer in the Physical Education department, officiated and managed the sports events, assisted by Rahul Dev Raina, Senior Lecturer in Physics. In his address, Koshal Kumar Sharma highlighted the critical role of sports in students' lives, emphasizing benefits such as physical fitness, mental health, team spirit, and leadership qualities.
"It is a great day for all of us. We are enjoying a lot. I have been studying in this school for the last three years but it's for the first time I am witnessing an event like this. Our new principal Smt. Neelam Gupta has changed the whole scenario of the school," said Harsh Kumar, a 12th class student, reflecting the positive changes under the new leadership.The day featured a variety of sports events, including a kabaddi match, volleyball tournament, chess tournament, cricket match, and tug of war. 'HSS Warriors' won the kabaddi match. 'HSS Smashers' won the volleyball tournament while 'HSS Knights' won the cricket match. Vansh Kumar of class 11th won the chess tournament and 'HSS Musculars' won the tug of war match.
Principal Smt. Neelam Gupta delivered the closing speech, discussing the myriad benefits of sports, potential careers in sports, and the integral role of sports in education. She congratulated all the winning teams and emphasized the importance of sportsmanship over winning or losing.The smooth conduct of the events was ensured by a dedicated team including Ashok Kumar Sharma, Dheeraj Singh, Tara Saini, Govind Lal, Ravinder Manhas, Arun Khajuria, Sunil Sharma, Dharampal Sharma, Prithpal Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Khalid Hussain and Vinod Sharma. Their efforts as scorers, umpires, referees, and in management team were crucial to the success of the day.To conclude the event, a stall distributing sweet fresh lemon water was set up, providing refreshments to all students, staff, and attendees, courtesy of the school staff. RS Pura Boys looks forward to continuing this tradition, fostering a healthy and spirited environment for all its students.
