Jammu, March: In the times of job layoffs, if you are looking for one, read this and make your own choices. If a revelation of Jammu and Kashmir Police is to be believed for anything, stone pelting can be a lucrative job avenue in the politically chaotic Valley. The Police claim that separatists and workers of a political party are alleged to be behind the spate of stone pelting incidents in Jammu and Kashmir after the state police seized an auto carrying a load of stones meant for distribution. The police also recovered Rs 7.5 lakh from alleged overground workers of militant outfits meant for paying the stone throwers, official sources said today. According to police, the autorickshaw driver, who was also arrested, was instructed by the brother of a separatist leader to transport the stones to various areas in South Kashmir with the aim of targeting the police. Some workers of a political party were also detained in the process and are being interrogated. A sum of Rs 1.5 lakh was seized in Anantnag district which was meant for paying overground workers of separatists to indulge in stone pelting at various places. Last night, a sum of Rs six lakh was recovered from a separatist sympathiser in Srinagar city. The police is ascertaining whether it was meant for militants of Hizbul Mujahideen or third rung separatist leaders indulging in stone pelting. Srinagar city has been rocked by incidents of stone pelting which became more violent after police action.
