| Fervor, prayers mark Milad celebrations | | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 10: To commemorate the birthday celebrations of Prophet Muhammed the Anjuman Islah-ul-Muslimeen Jammu organized an impressive function at Central Eidgah here today. The program started with recitation of Holy Quran by Qari Mohammed Akram followed by Qirat competition amongst the students of different Islamic Madrasas in Jammu. Illuminating lecture on the life and teachings of the Prophet was delivered by a renowned Shia scholar Allamah Sayeed Kalb-e-Jawad of Lucknow. He said that Islam has spread not by sword by the strength of the character and moral of the Prophet and impressed upon the Muslims to shun their differences and forge unity amongst themselves to face the present challenges. Another prominent scholar Maulana Syeed Salman Alhansi-Alnadvi also gave a thought provoking lecture on the life and teachings of Prophet of Islam. He said the future belongs to Muslims provided they are true Muslims and dedicate themselves for the selfless service of humanity irrespective of caste, creed and color. Former chief minister and National Conference president Dr.Farooq Abdullah who was also present asked the Muslims to eliminate the evils from the society to regain their lost glory. Responding to the demands raised on the occasion on behalf of Jammu Muslims, he assured that government will favourable examine these and shall try to redress their grievances. Maulana Ehsan Mohasin presented Naat in his melodious voice. The participants in the Qirat competition were given away prizes by Dr. Abdullah. Kavinder Gupta, Mayor JMC, Rattan Lal Gupta provincial president National Conference, Gurdeep Singh Sasan, GM Saroori, MLA and Rajesh Gupta corporator were among those present on the occasion.
