DEERS organises Model making competition

JAMMU, May 29: In anticipation of World Environment Day -2024, the Department of Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing DEERS-EIACP Hub Jammu organized a Model making competition at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Qasaban, Jammu.
The initiative aimed to promote a sense of reducing waste and generating wealth from waste for environmental conservation. The event saw enthusiastic participation from school students showcasing their expertise in utilizing waste in generating products of household use.
By organizing such activities, the department aims to inspire citizens to take active roles in preserving their local environment, ultimately contributing to a healthier planet.
The chief Guest of the occasion Sajjad Ahmed Khan, ESC, DEERS motivated the students about not using single use plastic and keeping our society clean. He also suggested a plantation drive in the school campus during the upcoming Van Mahotsav.
The PO- EIACP J&K Hub gave an overview of the theme of the World Environment day i.e. Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience. The students presented a thematic skit on save earth and showcased their skills in group dance and solo song too.
The success of this event highlights the community's commitment to environmental stewardship and sets a positive tone for the upcoming World Environment Day celebrations. The DEERS-EIACP Hub Jammu remains dedicated to fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainable living in Jammu.
