GDC Ramban organized Inter-College Anti-Drug Symposium

RAMBAN, May 30: NCORD Committee of Government Degree College Ramban in collaboration with District Police Ramban organized an inter-college anti-drug symposium under the patronage of Prof. Archana Kaul, Principal of the college. The event aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among the youth and the community. Anuj Kumar, IPS, SSP Ramban was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Program started with the formal welcome address of the Worthy Principal of the College, Prof. Archana Kaul. In her address, she emphasized the importance of organizing such events to educate people about the adverse effects of drug abuse. She also emphasized the need to stay away from this pernicious act. She also assured to organize such kinds of programmes in near future.
Anuj Kumar, SSP Ramban, chief guest of the program in his address, shared his experiences in tackling drug abuse cases and highlighted the effectiveness of awareness programs as a solution. He also discussed the plans and steps taken by the district police to minimize the drug menace in the district. He gave an important message to all that drug addict is not a culprit but a victim. He stressed upon the fact that such youth must be counseled properly and amiably.

The symposium was meticulously organized by Prof. Ram Parkash, Head of the Department of Mathematics and convener of NCORD Committee. Seventeen participants from GDC Ramban, GDC Banihal, GDC Gool and Govt. Modern Higher Secondary School Ramban participated in the event. Prof. Satish Kumar (HoD Zoology), Prof. Raj Kumar (HoD Chemistry), and Prof. Sanjay Kumar Katal (HoD Physics) acted as jury members.
Himani Sharma Student of B.Sc Sem-6th of GDC Ramban got first prize with cash prize of Rs.10000/- Second prize won by SHariq Gutt of student of B.A. Sem-4th GDC Gool with cash prize of Rs.5000/- while Samreen Choudhary, Student of B.A Sem 6th of GDC Ramban got 3rd prize with cash prize of Rs. 3000/- Certificates of participation were also distributed to all the participants.
The other dignitaries present at the event included Dr. Romesh Chander, Prof. Jawaid Sarver, Dr. Rabinder Kumar, Prof. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Prof. Aditya Sharma, Prof. Chankya Sharma, Prof. Neetu Sharma, Prof. Samir Ahmed, Dr. Vishal Bolria, Prof. Arjun Gupta, and Dr. Anuj Gupta. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Prof. Ram Parkash.
