1st Kalarippayattu District Championship hosted by DPS Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, May 30: Delhi Public School, Udhampur proudly hosted the first ever District Udhampur Kalarippayattu Championship 2024 on May 29, 2024. This highly anticipated event aims to celebrate and promote the ancient martial art of Kalarippayattu, showcasing the remarkable talent and dedication of athletes from the district.
Opening ceremony began at 10 a.m. The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony was Pro Vice Chairman of the School, Dr. J. C. Gupta. The championship culminated at 3:30 in the noon with a cultural Bonanza presented by talented students of Delhi Public School Udhampur. DIPSITES presented Semi classical and Fusion dance firms in front of dignitaries that received inflated appreciation by the guests. It was followed by the Prize Distribution ceremony to acknowledge the hard work of mentors and their teams. Chief guest for the closing ceremony was Balwant Singh Mankotia , Ex MLA Udhampur and Patron of Distt. Association of Kalarippayatu. He was happy to witness the skills and expertise showcased by the participants. He further added that sports are the need of the hour to keep oneself mentally and physically fit. The chief guest that distributed medals to the winners of various categories. Overall championship trophy was lifted by Delhi Public School by winning 34 Gold medals, 25 silvers & 35 bronze medals.
Guest of honor was the worthy MD of the School, Vivek Gupta who is also President of District Udhampur Kalarippayattu Association other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Tarsem Sharma, CEO founder, Danish Sharma, General Secretary, Harsh Vardhan Raina, Technical Director, Koushal Garg, Gold Medalist, Ayush Kharka, Mr. Elite Global 2024 as a celebrity guest
180 Competitors across the district representing diverse schools participated in the championship. program was divided into Various age and skill categories to ensure a fair and exciting competition.
Kalarippayattu, known for its rich history and intricate techniques, is a traditional martial art form that originated in Kerala. The championship provided a platform for both experienced practitioners and young enthusiasts to display their skills, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and cultural heritage. The event featured a series of competitive bouts, judged by a panel of esteemed experts in the field. Spectators can look forward to witnessing impressive displays of agility, strength, and discipline as participants engage in combat sequences, weaponry skills, and traditional rituals.
The Championship was organized by the professionals working in the field from past decade. The team consisted of President Vivek Gupta, Pranjal, Treasurer, Rudrakshat Gupta, Secretary, Udhay Singh Joint Secretary & Sahil Sharma Executive Members of Kalarippayattu Association of District Udhampur .
