Early Times Report
DODA, May 30: A meeting to discuss steps for the convergence of the three departments-Poshan, Education and Health to achieve holistic development of children as well as the health and well-being of pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls was held here today. District Programme Officer Poshan Projects Doda, S. Paramjeet Singh convened the crucial meeting in his office chamber, which was attended by senior functionaries of the three stakeholder departments. District Immunization Officer Dr. Varsha expressed a keen interest in working closely with the Poshan Department to achieve 100% immunization and to identify malnourished children, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and adolescent girls. The Chief Education Officer (CEO) recommended the convergence of Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) with schools within a distance of 200 meters, provided there is an extra room available in the school to run the AWC. Upon the request of DPO, the Chief Education Officer agreed to provide a list of children registered in both government and private institutions (schools) who are also beneficiaries of AWCs in the district. This will be based on Aadhaar registration to avoid double registration of children in both AWCs and schools. Other issues related to departmental convergence were also discussed during the meeting. The meeting concluded with a shared hope to strengthen the Poshan (ICDS) sector through collaborative efforts. The representatives reiterated their commitment to working together for the betterment of child development and the health of women in the district.
