Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 30: In the realm of democracy, the media stands as the fourth pillar, with journalism serving as the conduit through which we are kept up to date on the state's as well as national and global current affairs. This was stated by BJP District President Jammu South Rekha Mahajan while honoring the journalists namely Anubhav Suri, Kamal Kundal, Naveen Koul, Ropesh Raj and Amit Kumar. On the occasion of Hindi Patrakarita Divas (Journalism Day) today, May 30, Rekha Mahajan was accompanied by District Vice President Narinder Gupta Koki, District Secretary Rohiin Chandan, Mandal President Bharat Bhushan, Treasure Rajesh Gupta and Publicity Secretary Pardeep Sharma were present on the occasion.
During the Samman Samaroh on Patrakarita Divas, Rekha Mahajan said journalists tirelessly ensure prompt delivery of news right to our doorsteps on all media platforms. The BJP leader emphasized that Hindi Journalism Day is observed annually on May 30 in India. She added that this day honors the launch of the first Hindi newspaper, 'Udant Martand', which debuted on May 30, 1826. Rekha Mahajan said Hindi journalism has existed in the country for about 198 years. On May 30, 2024, Hindi Journalism Day will be observed to honor the contribution of Hindi journalism and the journalists who toil day and night to provide correct information to the citizens of the country.
Rekha Mahajan said this newspaper was instrumental in raising awareness about the country's freedom struggle. At that time, Hindi was the primary medium of communication in India, and 'Udant Martand' played a crucial role in disseminating information across the nation. The ability for citizens to comprehend current events in their own tongue has been made possible by vernacular journalism, which makes sure that information reaches every home in the nation. Hindi Journalism Day commemorates the birth of Hindi journalism, which has made it possible for Indians all around the country to obtain trustworthy information in their native tongue. Rekha added.
Rekha Mahajan asserted that media plays a critical role in highlighting government policies to the people and in changing their lives, and she remembered its contributions in popularizing initiatives of the Modi-led government like the 'Swachh Bharat Mission' and 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' schemes and other multiple schemes that were beyond the political domain. Rekha Mahajan said that Hindi Journalism Day is a significant milestone in the history of Indian journalism. It is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of journalists who work tirelessly to provide news and stories to the masses in Hindi, thereby promoting democratic values and strengthening the fabric of Indian society. Every year, Hindi Journalism Day is celebrated to commemorate the beginning of Hindi journalism, which has resulted in people throughout the country having access to reliable information in their mother tongue.
