| Div Com discusses construction of new links to erstwhile Doda district | | |

JAMMU, MARCH 12 -In order to discuss the preparation of DPRs for construction of new link roads to the erstwhile district Doda and surrounding districts and up-gradation of existing roads, a high level meeting was convened today by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal.
Among others present during the meeting were, DDC Kathua Ms Manddep Kaur, DDC Udhampur Mr Ajay Khajuria, DDC Doda Syed Sharief-ud Din, DDC Ramban Mr A D Shanas, SSP traffic NH-IB and other senior officers from the BRO, Baglihar hydroelectric project PWD, JKPCC and experts from the GSI of India.
Dr Kotwal asked the various line departments to work in liaison with the executing agencies to adopt integrated multidisciplinary interventions in providing sustainable and all weather connectivity solutions to these areas so that the local population does not suffer for want of connectivity and loss to life and property occurring due to mishaps can be checked.
While discussing the construction of the new road links such as Dessa –Kapran road, Sudh-Mahadev-Snikund-Marmatroad and Chhatroo –Sinhpura –Vailoo road he stressed that all technical aspects should be taken into consideration with expert opinion from Geological Survey of India to ensure that these roads provide all weather connectivity solutions to these hilly terrains. Vulnerability of these roads to land slides and other environmental factors should also be given due attention, he added.
Dr Kotwal also reviewed the up gradation work on the Bani Bhaderwah road and various other projects such as construction of bridge on Neeru Nallah, Ganpat Bridge over Chenab and Pul Doda Bharderwah Road. Other issues discussed in the meeting include ferry services on the Baglihar Dam Water Course and Stocking of essential commodities in district Doda and Kishtwar
