| Just concluded Assembly session most disappointing: says Prof Gupta | | |

Jammu Mar 12-Describing the just concluded session of the State legislature as disappointing, the leader of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta observed that first of all the ‘PUNNAR MILLAN’ of the jilted lovers was obviously an unholy alliance without any agenda just for sharing the benefits of power.
Having the little scheme of things to meet the challenges of the opposition, the coalition Government did not dare to hold the session of the Assembly for about two months after the election results were announced knowing fully well that the Lok Sabha Elections are round the corner and the Model Code of Conduct would be there, he added and said that instead of bringing the full budget, Vote on Account approach was adopted and then every issue was evaded in the House by taking the cover of Model Code of Conduct. Referring to the role of Chief Minister, Prof Gupta said that even during the brief session of the Assembly the Chief Minister was conspicuous by his absence for most of the time. Perhaps the ‘Young man’ was busy elsewhere but his keeping away from the House was not good for democratic tradition especially when the people of the State are faced with numerous problems.
He said that it was noticed that the National Conference members looked more siding with the opposition leaders of the Valley in maligning the forces under a design. These men of the ruling party looked quite vocal pleading for forcing out the troops fighting the terrorists and other anti-national elements. They equally raised slogans against the forces as if they are alien. They sounded alike the Talbani voices being raised by certain elements in and outside the valley, he alleged.
So far Congress is concerned Prof Gupta said that it opted for the role of a second fiddle to that of dubious voices of the National Conference. As feared they toed the NC line even on those issues, which were against the national interests and did not opt for the promises they had made with the nationalist people. They did not press for grant of citizens rights for the Refugees from West Pakistan as also those displaced persons from Pak-occupied Kashmir and from the Valley and the certain parts of Jammu too.
The worst role of the Congress was in opposing the resolutions and bills of the BJP and some others seeking for amending the State Constitution to pave the way for having fresh Delimitation of Assembly Constituency to ensure equal representation to Jammu and Kashmir regions keeping of view strength of the voters as also the geographical area of each region.
The most deplorable act of the Coalition leaders of the Congress and the NC was their rejection of the move for granting subsistence allowance to the unemployed youths till they are provided jobs. They shamelessly opposed the moves even they had been promising employment at least one member of a family and stipend to the unemployed, Prof Gupta observed.
‘BJP would force the Government leaders in the times to come to act are quit, Prof. Gupta asserted and pointed out that the BJP had submitted a memorandum to the Governor at the beginning of the session and continued to agitate the issues facing the people through out the session.
