Crime & Security review meeting held in Udhampur
6/1/2024 10:22:18 PM
Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, June 1: Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS DIG of Udhampur Reasi Range, chaired a comprehensive Crime and Security Review Meeting at the Conference Hall, DPL Udhampur. The meeting focused on improving the quality of investigations and the prompt disposal of crime cases, especially those related to the UA(P)A, NDPS, and bovine smuggling.
Key points of discussion included maintaining records and keeping surveillance on the activities of drug peddlers, bovine smugglers, repeated offenders, OGWs, and surrendered/released terrorists in the respective areas of the officers present. The DIG emphasized the need for a robust security grid in light of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024 and recent terrorist activities, particularly in the Basantgarh area. Officers were instructed to ensure their teams remain mobile and vigilant to prevent any untoward incidents.
The SHOs were directed to personally supervise the functioning of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) and regularly synchronize data with the State Data Centre. Proper maintenance and frequent checks of beat books by the concerned SHOs were also mandated.
Addressing the growing menace of drugs, Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat declared it a top priority among crime heads. He urged officers to take strict, well-planned actions against those involved in the NDPS trade. Furthermore, stringent measures against drug peddlers and bovine smugglers were stressed, noting that these illegal activities often intersect with other unlawful acts, including the transportation of criminals and unlawful materials, potentially leading to law and order issues. Vehicle owners whose vehicles are repeatedly used for illegal activities are to be booked under PSA.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Joginder Singh-JKPS, SSP Udhampur; Baljit Singh-JKPS, Addl. SP Udhampur; Prehlad Kumar-JKPS, Dy.SP Hqrs. Udhampur; Manjeet Singh-JKPS, SDPO Ramnagar; and all SHOs of District Udhampur.
