RO Jammu PC Sachin Kumar reviews preparations at Counting Centres

JAMMU, June 1: Returning Officer 05-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, conducted an extensive inspection of the Counting Centres at the Government Polytechnic College and MAM College today. Accompanied by SSP Dr. Vinod Kumar and other key officers, the RO finalized the preparations for the counting of votes polled in Lok Sabha Elections, scheduled on June 4. The inspection aimed to ensure provision of all necessary arrangements for a seamless and transparent counting process. The RO reviewed the security measures, logistics and essential amenities at the venues. This included a detailed examination of the deployment of paramilitary and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) personnel, as well as the setup for counting staff and agents.
Other officers present during the inspection included ADDC Sher Singh, AROs, Director IT (DIO NIC Jammu) Sanjeev Kapoor, SSP Traffic Faisal Qureshi, Dy. DEO Rameshwar Kumar besides others. Key areas of focus included barricading, traffic management around the centres, parking facilities, entry protocols for counting staff and agents and the establishment of control rooms. Additional provisions such as drinking water, mobile toilets, cleanliness, a public address system and fire tenders were also reviewed. Sachin Kumar emphasised strict adherence to security protocols and issued directives regarding the handling and movement of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in accordance with the Election Commission of India's guidelines. He also assessed the presence of central paramilitary forces and JK Police to maintain security. The visit also included a review of arrangements for power supply, adequate water provision, media management and the issuance of entry passes, ensuring all aspects were meticulously planned for the counting of votes.
