KVK farmer training mash crop under FLDs

JAMMU, June 4: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today conducted one day training programme on mash production technology under Front Line Demonstrations on scientific cultivation of mash at Panchayat Ghar Palmar-A of the District. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Amrish Vaid Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. 50 farmer and farm women of the panchayat attended the programme. During the programme Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar briefed the participants about SKUAST Jammu recommended scientific package of practices of mash cultivation including land preparation, seed rate, seed treatment, nutrient doses, weed management, insect pest and disease management for yield maximization and increasing pulse production in the district. He informed that the objective of FLDs is to demonstrate the production potential of recommended mash production technology on farmers' field so that farmers at large can witness it and adopt. He pinned hopes that the participants will adopt the recommended production technologies for increasing the yield of mash crop. He added that use of improved seed, nutrient doses, pest management measures can bring about transformation in pulses cultivation in the district. Shokat Ali, Babita Devi, Aijaz Ahmad, Shazia Begum, Narinder Parihar, Manoj Kumar and other farmers and farm women participated in the programme. At the end of the programme, Mash seed was distributed for laying out FLDs on their respective fields under the guidance of KVK. Amna Begum former sarpanch lauded the efforts of the KVK in organizing the programme and extended vote of thanks.
