Early Times Report
DARHAL, June 5: In celebration of World Environment Day, the Government Degree College Darhal (GDC Darhal) organized a special event today to raise awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability. The event saw a great turnout of students, faculty members, and local community members who gathered to mark this important day.
The event was organized and coordinated by the NSS wing, headed by Dr. Mohd Akhlaq and the IQAC of the college, headed by Dr. M Saleem Wani.
The theme of World Environment Day 2024 is 'land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience'. The event began with a tree-planting ceremony where participants planted several saplings on the college campus as a symbol of their commitment to preserving the environment. This was followed by a series of informative sessions and talks on the importance of protecting our planet and taking proactive steps towards sustainable living
Speaking at the event, Prof. Z.A Mirza, Principal GDC Darhal emphasized the need for collective action to address pressing environmental issues and highlighted the role that educational institutions like GDC Darhal can play in promoting environmental consciousness among young minds.
Students also took part in various eco-friendly activities such as a clean-up drive and a poster-making competition on environmental themes. The creativity and enthusiasm displayed by the participants underscored the importance of involving young people in efforts to protect the environment. The event concluded with a pledge to continue promoting sustainable practices and to work towards a greener and healthier future for all. GDC Darhal's initiative in organizing this event serves as a reminder of the crucial role that education and community engagement play in building a sustainable world.
As we mark World Environment Day, let us all commit to being stewards of the environment and take concrete actions to preserve our planet for future generations. Stay tuned for more updates on environmental initiatives and events in our community.
The successful celebration of World Environment Day at GDC Darhal would not have been possible without the combined efforts and contributions of the faculty members and staff including Dr. Ghulam Abass, HoD Persian, Dr Taseem HoD Geography, and Dr Anzar Ahmed HoD Arabic Their commitment and dedication played a vital role in making the event a memorable one.
