Mock fire drill conducted at Govt Ayurvedic Hospital

JAMMU, June 5: June 05, 2024: In order to promote fire safety measures for patients and staff, fire safety mock drill conducted at Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu under the guidance of Dr. Mohan Singh Director Aysh, J&K and supervision of Dr. Vandana Dogra, Medical Superintendent & Dr. Aruna Bhat Deputy Medical Superintendent, Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital Indira Chowk, Jammu. Fire safety is one of the essential and mandatory component of patient safety in the clinical establishments under Quality assurance and certification programs. In order to build the capacity of Doctors, Paramedical Staff and Other support staff in handling fire incidents in the hospital, a mock drill is organized in the premises of Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital wherein the staff is made aware about various aspect of the fire safety management, fire extinguisher handling, code calling and assistance etc. Resource persons also briefed about the fire code calling, exit plans and patient shifting during the fire incident. Various methods of fire extinguishing along with the indications were demonstrated to the staff and staff members. Staff members were also given handholding in handling the equipment. It is notable that, mock fire drills must be conducted at regular intervals in health institutions to make the staff aware and prepared to handle any such incidents in future. 42 staff members including the Medical Superintendent, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Medical Officers, Paramedical staff and support staff also participated in the drill and demonstrations.
