| Municipal Commissioner inspects civic works in Jammu city | | Directs for initiating action against defaulters | |

Jammu, Mar 13- Municipal Commissioner, Mubarak Singh along with senior officers of different wings like engineering, administration, enforcement conducted extensive tour of various localities of Jammu City and held meetings with prominent persons of W.No:61 (Domal) where the local public put forth demands for proper drainage system and also construction of lanes. They also expressed the problems regarding stagnation of water on a chunk of land belonging to custodian department. Municipal Commissioner assured the locals that problems of the locality shall be redressed as per the available resources. Besides, the locals also requested that the deep drain constructed by the ERA should be extended through W. No: 61, so as to provide relief to this locality also. The matter shall be taken up with the ERA for redressal of this issue.
Later the team of officers also visited different areas like Shakti Nagar, A.G. office area, Shakti Nagar, Rajpura Mangotrian, Rehari Colony, Patoli, Janipur, Ban Talab area, Krishana Nagar etc, and listened to the problems of people of these localities and directions were issued to the concerned officers on spot for redresssal of the grievances. The civil works like construction of lanes/ drains by the engineering wing of the JMC were also inspected. The engineering staff was directed to execute the on going works expeditiously so as to ensure their completion before the close of the current fiscal. The work on two municipal parks namely Shaheed Bhagat Singh park at Krishna Nagar and Rajpura Mangotrian was also inspected by the visiting team and directions were passed on to the Executive engineers to expedite the pace of work on these parks.
The works executed by the UEED at Shakti Nagar near A.G office were also inspected The executive engineer, UEED who also accompanied the Municipal Commissioner was asked t expedite the on going works, so that they are completed well before the time and without any revisions of the cost.
During the tour, the violations of building permissions were also noticed at number of places especially at Akhnoor Road, Shakti Nagar, Rajpura Mangotrian, Subhash Nagar, Janipura, Ban Talab road etc. The Joint Commissioner (Adm.) was asked to initiate immediate necessary action under law against the defaulters. He was also asked to get the works stopped forthwith wherever the building permissions have not been issued and the violation of the permissions has been noticed.
Commissioner also appealed the general public to apply for permission before undertaking any construction activity. He also informed that the building permissions would be cleared expeditiously in the larger interest of public as well as in the interest of Municipal Corporation.
Among others, the Joint Commissioner (Adm.) Joint Commissioner (works), Chief Enforcement Officers, executive engineers and other officers accompanied the Municipal Commissioner during the tour. Ashok Singh Manhas, Balbir Kumar, and Manmohan Singh, Corporators also met Municipal Commissioner and highlighted the problems of their respective wards.
