SAMBA, June 8: District Commissioner Samba Abhishek Sharma chaired a pivotal meeting today with the Zila Sanik Welfare Board Members to address the pressing concerns affecting ex-service personnel and Veer Naris in the district.
The meeting, attended by ex-servicemen and Veer Naris from across the District, acted as a platform to discuss and strategize solutions to various challenges faced by the brave veterans.
Retired Col. Manjeet Singh Bhau SM, Secretary Zila Sainik Welfare office Samba briefed the chair regarding the various activities carried out by the welfare board.
The DC reiterated the commitment of the Government and the District Administration towards the welfare of the serving soldiers, veterans and war widows. He announced the establishment of an Ex-Servicemen Cell in the DC office, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Revenue, to ensure the swift resolution of grievances.
Recognizing the need to instill a sense of reverence among the younger generation, DC Sharma advocated for organizing visits for school children to the homes of war heroes and Veer Naris. This initiative aims to educate the youth about the sacrifices made by local heroes and foster a culture of respect and gratitude.
Furthermore, he urged ex-service personnel to play an active role in combating the drug menace and promoting sports and physical fitness among the youth. He applauded their participation in national events such as Independence Day and Republic Day parades, motivational talks in schools, and their involvement in various government programs.
In his closing remarks, DC reiterated the District Administration’s unwavering support for the welfare and well-being of ex-service personnel and Veer Naris. He called upon the entire community to join hands in honoring and supporting our brave heroes who have selflessly served the nation.
