Govt Polytechnic College Jammu celebrates World Environment Day 2024

JAMMU, June 8: The NSS unit of Government Polytechnic Jammu, in collaboration with the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) club, organized a plantation drive on campus to celebrate World Environment Day 2024. The initiative, aimed at promoting environmental conservation, was conducted under the guidance of Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college.
In his address to the staff and students, Er. Bangotra emphasized the importance of protecting nature and living in harmony with the environment to achieve sustainable human development. He highlighted the benefits of plants in eliminating pollution and enhancing health. The drive saw the planting of various indigenous ornamental, shade-bearing, fruit-bearing, medicinal, and timber-yielding saplings across the campus.
The event was supervised by Amit Gupta, Incharge of the UBA club, and Dheeraj Kumar, Program Officer of the NSS wing. The occasion was graced by the presence of Er. Sukhdeep Singh, HOD Civil; Er. Raj Shekhar, HOD Auto; Er. Jasdeep Kaur, HOD I&C; Er. Manjeet Singh, HOD Electrical; Chamel Singh, PEM; Toshi Devi, PET; Mehraj-ud-din, Lecturer MLT; Harjinder Singh, Architecture Department; and Vinay Kumar, Instructor, along with NSS and UBA club students of the college.
Er. Bangotra praised the efforts of the staff and students, encouraging them to continue such initiatives in the future to enhance the campus's greenery. The staff participated enthusiastically in the plantation drive and pledged their commitment to raising awareness about nature conservation through tree plantation.
The celebration of World Environment Day at Government Polytechnic College Jammu was not just an event but a step towards fostering a green and sustainable environment for future generations.
