| Seminar on ‘Save nature- save life’ organized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 13- To create awareness among the people especially the students about the importance of safe environment, Directorate of Environment and Remote Sensing organized a seminar in collaboration with KC Public School on the topic ‘Save nature-Save life’. Zorawar Singh Principal KC Public School presided over the function while Dharamvir Singh Deputy Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion Dharamvir said that better health of the students is must for healthy and prosperous nation for which a neat and clean environment is pre-requisite. The students who took part in the seminar were of the opinion that air pollution and deforestation were the main causes of O-Zone depletion and global warming. They said that to overcome the problem immediate steps like massive plantations and control of industrial population were required to be taken on war footing. RC Sharma Environmental Soil Conservationist while addressing the students said that survival of mankind is dependent upon the survival of nature adding that more and more areas across the country needed to be brought under the forest cover to combat the pollution problem. Ananya Sharma stood first in the competition while the second and third prizes were bagged by Sakshi Bhatt and Akriti Sharma respectively. Prizes were also distributed among the toppers at the seminar. S.L. Mattu and D.P. Khajuria were the judges on this occasion. Shobna Sethi, in-charge school activities presented vote of thanks.
