| Sharma demands separate sub division for Kalakote | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 13- Former Legislator Ashok Sharma has demanded creation of sub division at Kalakote and tehsils at Taryath and Khawas in Rajouri district. Addressing a convention of farmers at Taryath, Sharma also pleaded for creation of Niabats at Methani, Punjab, Dhangri, Chingus and Garan and rural development bocks at Mogla, Baljarlian, Barmandal and Dharamasal. Sharma who is also chairman of All Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Union has emphasized the need for timely supply of seeds and fertilizers to the farmers and earmarking of 25 per cent of the total budgetary allocations both at the centre in the state for agriculture sector to improve the socio economic conditions of the farmers. He said the agriculture sector is the backbone of the country and nearly 80 percent population comprises farmers but it is unfortunate that even after 62 years of independence they have not been accorded the priority in the development strategy. On this occasion several resolutions were passed focusing on issues like bringing more and more areas under irrigation net work, transfer of agriculture technology from lab to land and giving status of an industry to agriculture sector. Among others who addressed the convention included Vinod Sharma, Dr. Hazuri Lal, Ch. Mohammed Sin, Hans aj, Ashok Bajal, Sita Ram, Sham Lal, Dewan Chand, Mohammed Yousf, Bansi Lal, Sat Paul and Girdhari Lal.
