JAMMU, June 11: The third batch of Tawi Trekkers J&K, consisting of 28 students from Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu, embarked today on an adventurous journey to Dharamshala. The group is set to participate in the Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme, a prestigious event organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K under the chairmanship of Anil Goswami, former Home Secretary, Government of India. Accompanying the group as leaders are Anu Sharma, Suksham Verma, and Vikas Singh, senior members of the club.
The club's dedicated activists, led by Sonam Sidharth, Field Director of the programme, have already secured proper boarding, lodging, and other necessary arrangements in the Chamunda and Macleodganj areas to ensure the smooth conduct of this significant trekking venture.
Earlier today, the group was ceremoniously flagged off by Chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, from Kala Kendra, Jammu. The event was graced by the presence of Shawetica Khajuria, President of Tawi Trekkers J&K; Ram Khajuria, Advisor of the club; and numerous parents of the participating trekkers. In his address, Zorawar Singh Jamwal emphasized the importance of respecting and preserving nature. He advised the students to maintain cleanliness at the campsite and along the trekking trails by not discarding wrappers of chocolates, toffees, biscuits, and other items.
The trekking programme is being organized in collaboration with several organizations, including the J&K Sports Council, Mountaineering Association of J&K, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu, and District Mountaineering Associations of Jammu, Udhampur, and Samba.
Tawi Trekkers J&K, a voluntary, non-profit social service organization, is driven by a group of dedicated young boys and girls. Their mission is to foster a spirit of adventure and a love for nature among people from all walks of life, without any discrimination based on color, caste, or creed.
