GDC Sidhra celebrates International Yoga Day with Mega Ayush Yoga Camp

JAMMU, June 12: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra, in collaboration with the Department of History and the Department of Ayush, J&K, organized an awareness lecture and a Mega Ayush Yoga Camp in celebration of International Yoga Day 2024. The event was held under the directions of Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Ayush, and the supervision of Dr. Vandana Dogra, DAO, Directorate of Ayush, J&K, with active coordination from the NSS Unit of the college.
The program commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Purvaiya Hans. The resource person for the event, Dr. Himani Bhutyal, Medical Officer, Department of Ayush, highlighted the importance of Ayurveda, describing it as a treasure trove of knowledge. Dr. Bhutyal emphasized that wellness encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and social health, urging students to maintain a balanced life to achieve holistic well-being.
The Principal of the college, Dr. G.S. Rakwal, addressed the students, discussing the importance of balancing traditional and modern values for a harmonious life. He stressed the significance of yoga as a tool for integrated and balanced personal growth and encouraged students to incorporate yoga into their daily routines to overcome life's challenges.
Following the lecture, a Yoga Demonstration session was conducted by instructors Ishan Mansotra, Jyoti Bali, and Sheetal Khajuria. They taught various yoga asanas to NSS volunteers and faculty members, explaining their benefits and significance. The session also included the distribution of IEC material to students.
The resource person, Dr. Himani Bhutyal, was honored with a memento and a certificate of appreciation. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to the yoga instructors. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered.
