| Farooq takes potshots at Mufti | | | Early Times Report Srinagar: National Conference patron and former Chief Minister Farooq Abadullah Friday vowed to bring out what he said large scale discrepancies in Waqaf Board during Peoples Democratic Party tenure in state. Talking to reporters at Hazratbal shrine, Farooq Abdullah alleged that there were large scale discrepancies in the Waqaf board when Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was at the helm of affairs in the state. “There are large scale misappropriations against Mufti government and more skeletons will fall including the Waqf board in near future,” Farooq Abdullah told reporters. Farooq raised questions regarding Mufti’s intentions. He said that Mufti owed an explanation to the people over the transfer of forest land at Gulmarg and loss on account of apples to fruit growers. “Mufti-led government procured apple from growers at Rs 6 and sold these at Rs 50 a kg, inflicting a loss of Rs 20-30 crore on the Kashmiri growers. Mufti will have to give answer to every penny,” he said. Farooq also questioned Mufti’s raising second storey of his quarter at Gupkar when LAWDA, he said, allow none to built anything in the area. Reiterating his party’s commitment towards autonomy, he accused Mufti of Sabotaging it. “We know that both daughter and the father went to Delhi with ‘begging’ bowl for power in 2002. Even last time they offered unconditional support to Congress after the polls, but had to return dejected,” Farooq said. Farooq Abdullah, who is also Rajya Sabha member from Kashmir, vowed to punish those involved in Rosni Act embezzlements. On parliamentary elections, Farooq Abdullah expressed his optimism that the ruling alliance would romp home on all the six constituencies. “Only time will tell who will be the winner,” he said. Farooq who offered prayers in Hazratbal said that he prayed for peace, stability and prosperity of the state.
