Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 13: The Shri Ram Universal School, Jakh, Jammu, under the leadership of Principal Sonika Mahajan, proudly flagged off the fourth group of students for the Dharamshala Himalayan Programme. This group comprises 30 enthusiastic students, including 13 girls, who are set to explore the scenic Dauladhar ranges in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. Accompanying them are three dedicated teachers from the school-Minkle Verma, Sahil Gupta, and Vandana-as well as senior members of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Sourav Deep Singh and Bhanu Partap Singh, both experienced mountaineers.
Meanwhile, the third group of trekkers from Govt College for Women, Parade, who arrived in Dharamshala yesterday, is enjoying a soft trek to Gallu temple and Dharamkot, also known as "mini Israel."
Tawi Trekkers J&K has been organizing Himalayan Trekking Programmes in Dalhousie-Chamba, Kullu-Manali, and Dharamshala areas of Himachal Pradesh since 1994. These programmes have gained immense popularity among students during summer vacations, with over 15,000 participants so far. The primary objective of these treks is to provide students a refreshing break from the city's heat, dust, and hustle, bringing them closer to nature.
The next group of trekkers from Aryan Oriental Convent Hr. Secondary School Udhampur, Jammu, is scheduled to depart for the Himalayan Trekking Programme within the next few days. Additionally, a small group of about ten club members will undertake a high-altitude trek to Triund, a picturesque meadow situated at an elevation of over 10,000 feet in the Dhauladhar range of Himachal Pradesh.
