| Rathore Education, Research celebrates International Women’s Day | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 14- State Social Welfare Board in collaboration with Rathore Education and Research Foundation celebrated the International Women’s Day at a function held at the Foundation Training Institute Chagrahn Kahua in which a number of women from different shades of the society along with girl students of the institute participated. Prof Indira Rathore former College Principal was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof Shashi Koul and Prof Sharda Sawhney were the resources persons. Prof Rathore in her speech spoke about the involvement of women for healthy transformation of the society and congratulated the women present on the occasion. She asked them to equip themselves to face the challenges and also avail the opportunities available for their education, social, cultural upliftment and economic empowerment. She said social welfare board has undertaken many schemes aiming to improve the condition of women in the rural areas, particularly the girl child. ‘It is now for us to see that how best these schemes are implemented so that the benefits flow to the concerned section of the society’, she added and called for building up a mass movement for Women’s empowerment. Referring to her NGO, she said that PER foundation is actively involved in the areas of education, health environment and social upliftment. Prof Shashi Koul Head of Department Post Graduate Department of CRME Government College for Women Parade spoke on gender sensitization, female foeticide and right of the women and their empowerment. Prof Sharda Swhney spoke on healthy food and nutrition and also stressed the need of a balanced diet for growth and development of children.
