| Tackling unemployment is top priority for coalition Govt | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar14- As a part of its commitment to tackle the problem of unemployment, the NC-Congress coalition Government has decided to fill up 2500 vacant posts in different departments. These posts have been identified and have been referred to the Public Service Commission and the Subordinate Services Selection Board. While carrying out a survey the Government agencies found that several thousand posts were lying vacant and no attempt had been made to fill these posts. Official sources said that whenever an attempt was made for filling these posts the delay on the part of the recruiting agencies kept these posts vacant for several years. Sources said that Chief Minster, Omar Abdullah, has instructed the concerned departments to refer all the vacant posts to the Public Service Commission and the Selection Board which have been asked to complete the selection on a fast track basis. The Chief Minister is committed to fill all the vacant posts within one year. Besides, the Government has referred 398 gazetted posts to the Public Service Commission for conducting combined competitive civil services examination. It has been decided to hold the civil services examination for the administrative services of the state every year. Sources said that it will be for the first time that recruitment for five additional police battalions was to be completed within next one month. They said a committee of experts has been asked to examine the extent of increased employment opportunities because the problem of unemployment cannot be resolved by merely creating more jobs in the Government sector. In this connection the entire industrial sector was being revamped so as to increase the capacity of these units for giving jobs to more unemployed youths.
