Guru Ravi Dass Sabha celebrates birth anniversary of Babu Milkhi Ram

JAMMU, June 14: The Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort Jammu commemorated the birth anniversary of Advocate Babu Milkhi Ram Ji, an esteemed former MLA and revered social reformer, within the sacred premises of Gurudwara Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj Bahu Fort Jammu.
In his address, Sham Lal Basson, General Secretary of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort Jammu, lauded Babu Milkhi Ram Ji as the Ambedkar of Jammu and Kashmir. Highlighting his invaluable contributions, Basson noted that Babu Ji founded the Harijan Mandal (Central) and secured a historic victory in the 1957 assembly election from the Marh constituency. Throughout his life, he championed the cause of the poor and downtrodden, often representing them in court cases free of charge.
Basson recounted Babu Ji's unwavering principles, exemplified by his refusal of the Finance Minister position offered by Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, as it required dissolving the Harijan Mandal. Babu Ji's selflessness extended to his personal life; despite his significant contributions, he lived without a permanent home, prioritizing the upliftment of the underprivileged over his
