| Army organizes annual garden competition -2009 | | |
Udhzampur Mar 14- The Annual Garden Competition for the year 2009 was conducted at Udhampur Garrison under the aegis of Station Headquarter, Udhampur. The competition was held in various categories and covered gardens, potted plants and flower arrangements. Keenly contested, the event displayed the eco awareness of the army personnel towards environment, care of mother- nature and efforts to handover a beautiful earth to the posterity. Varied variety and extravaganza of colours, textures and hues made the task of judges difficult.
Deepa Bhardwaj, President AWWA, Northern Command, who was chief guest for the event, distributed the prizes to the winners.
Indian Army has always been conscious towards the environmental issues and has done a remarkable greening of India, especially in the remote and inhospitable terrains. The enthusiasm displayed by the green fingers in the said competition reaffirmed the commitment to the cause by all ranks of the Indian Army.
