RAMBAN, June 15: The Department of Social Welfare, Ramban, held an impactful awareness programme aimed at empowering women and combating substance abuse. The program highlighted several key initiatives, including Sankalp, the One Stop Centre (OSC) for Women in Ramban, and the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.
District Social Welfare Officer Ramban, Rahul Gupta, underlined the ongoing efforts to support and empower women, as well as to address critical social issues like substance abuse. Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Basheer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, such awareness programs are regularly conducted to foster a safer and more supportive community.
The DSWO said that Sankalp is a comprehensive program designed to empower women by providing them with diverse opportunities for growth and development. Through various skill-building activities and support services, Sankalp aims to uplift women and enable them to become active contributors to society.
He said that One Stop Centre Women, Ramban, is playing a crucial role in assisting women in distress. The OSC provides a range of services; including medical support, legal assistance, and counseling, ensuring women in need have access to comprehensive care and protection.
During the event, a dedicated paramedical staff member from OSC Ramban, Arti Devi, educated attendees about the ‘Nasha Mukht Abhiyan’ campaign. This campaign focuses on raising awareness about the severe consequences of drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society. The Resource Persons emphasized the importance of community involvement in tackling substance abuse and highlighted the District Administration’s commitment to this cause.
