MVD Challaned 47 Vehicles, Imposed fine of Rs 1.7 Lakh

SAMBA, June 15: In an effort to promote road safety and enforce traffic regulations, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Samba conducted an enforcement drive and challaned 47 vehicles and imposed fine of Rs one Lakh Seven thousand from the violators at thandi Khui area of Vijaypur in District Samba here today.
According to the report, the enforcement drive was conducted under the supervision of ARTO Samba Romesh Samotra at Jammu Pathankot National Highway at Thadikhui area of Vijaypur in District Samba. During the Course of checking, the team checked 150 vehicles, out of which the team challaned 47 vehicles found running in various violations of the Motor Vehicles Act and fine of Rs 1.7 lakh from the violators on the spot. Drivers and passengers were also sensitized about the impact of violating Traffic rules and asked not to be part of any violations which can cost precious lives. They were further informed that the department will not spare habitual offenders and if chronic violators don’t mend their actions strict action like suspension of R.C/D.L can be initiated against them by the department.
The enforcement team was composed of MVI C.S Baloria, MVI Lakhwinder Singh, SMVI Neeraj Kumar and other staff members.
ARTO Samba Romesh Samotra informed that such pro active drives against the traffic violators shall continue in future so that road safety is improved in the district. He implored upon the civil society to come forward and adopt road safety as a norm and proactively inform the authorities about the chronic violators.
He advised that the common citizen must follow traffic rules particularly driving in appropriate lanes, wearing a seat belt/ helmet, follow traffic signals wherever provided and limit their speed while driving.
