KDPW of DPAP Demands Resettlement, Rehabilitation of Displaced Kashmiri Hindus
6/16/2024 9:44:42 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 16: The Kashmiri Displaced People Wing (KDPW) of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) has issued a joint statement demanding the resettlement and rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Hindus back to their birthplace in the Valley. The statement, released by President Shri Sanjay Dhar, Chairman Shri Piaray Lal Pandita, General Secretary Shri Raj Kumar Ticku, Youth President Naveen Gosani, and other leaders, criticizes successive governments for failing to develop a concrete policy for resettlement and rehabilitation, accusing them of using the displacement issue as a political tool during elections.
The leaders expressed deep concern over the unfulfilled promises made by political leaders since 2014, which were reiterated during the 2024 election campaign. They appealed to the present Central Government, emphasizing that the displaced Kashmiri community can no longer tolerate visiting their birthplaces as tourists.
They highlighted the strong emotional connection of the community to their ancestral lands, citing the recent visit of thousands to the Kheerbawani Shrines in the Valley from across India and Jammu Province.
The KDPW leaders urged the Government of India to recognize the community's attachment to their birthplace and to formulate a one-time return policy for displaced Kashmiri Hindus, with input from the actual sufferers and stakeholders, especially those living in camps.
They also called for the immediate restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and the conducting of much-awaited Assembly elections to establish a public government, which would help restore public confidence.
