| Turmoil to affect India: Air Chief | | | Agencies New Delhi, March 14: The chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major on Saturday said that the political turmoil in Pakistan will have an impact on India. Earlier, while addressing a high-level meeting, Pakistani President Zardari had outrightly said no to the reconciliation formula prepared by Kayani and Gilani with the backing of the US and the UK. Reports in the Pakistani media also claimed that the President has ordered a crackdown on the press to stifle the lawyers’ Long March. Meanwhile, speculation has been rife in the recent days of Zardari being cornered and the emergence of Gilani as the man of the moment. In fact, reports yesterday claimed that Zardari had been given a 24-hour ultimatum to defuse the political chaos in the country and accept the Gilani-Kayani peace arrangement, that ensures former PM Nawaz Sharif's PML (N) presence in the cabinet and reinstatement of the sacked Chief Justice. Meanwhile, according to media reports a strong possibility exists of a drastic rise in violence in the restive Kashmir valley following the crisis in neighbouring Pakistan. |
